Faux Movember: Man With Bad Mustache Mistaken For Person Trying To Fundraise For Men's Health Issues
A local man recently learned he's been indispensable to the fight against men’s health issues simply by going about his life with what he is beginning to learn is a ridiculous mustache.
"People kept approaching me to discuss prostate cancer," Braedon Harper told reporters. "And then this woman told me, 'I bet your wife can't wait till December when you can shave that stupid thing off,"
Harper is unmarried at this time and says he had previously considered his upper-lip hair a "playful mix of rugged and refined."
He never dreamed he would be able to add "ingenious fundraising device" to his mustache's resume, but that's what he's doing.
"The moment I laid eyes on that poor man, I knew I had to contribute in some way," Nancy DeMoines, a prominent Beeton realtor, told the Alliston Gerald. "I thought, 'If he can endure looking like that every day the least I can do is make a donation.’"
After three people in one day handed Harper money instructing him to put it toward the fundraiser, he decided to get on board.
"I started telling people about Movember’s many men’s mental health initiatives and sending people to movember.com/donate," Braedon Harper said.
He noticed that ever since his fundraiser became real, people treat him and his mustache with a greater air of respect. Not only that, but this Friday he has his first date since growing the mustache two years ago.
"Braedon has such a clear view of the bigger picture," Alissa Pereira said. "And seeing him be so passionate about helping people, even at the expense of his looks—Well, that's inspiring."
